Jason Conrad will make his QBL debut for the Pirates in Saturday nights clash with QBL newcomers, the Sunshine Coast Rip.
Jason arrived last Friday but was waiting on clearances from Germany to be forwarded to Basketball Australia before he could play in Sunday's game against Gladstone. The required documents arrived Monday at Basketball Australia and were forwarded off to FIBA Oceania Tuesday for application for a Foreign Player Licence. FIBA Oceania advised club volunteer and expert in these matters, Harry Haxton, that Jason had been granted his Foreign Players Licence. Basketball Queensland who also needs confirmation from FIBA Oceania can now enter Jason's details into their system to allow him to play. This was the same process that halted the participation of the Toowoomba men's imports in round one sparking some intense last minute discussions before the game which delayed tip off!
The clearance of Conrad will add a facet to the Pirate's game that they did not have in the first two rounds. His length and reach allows him to alter shots and to be very active on the offensive boards. Women tip off at 5.30pm the men at 7.30pm!
